In the wake of big data, investigators now have access to an unprecedented amount of information.  Although advanced techniques and models in fraud analytics are gaining traction, they are not yet available to everyone.  However, there are basic steps that all investigators and auditors can employ.  In this presentation, you will learn about basic analytics approaches using simple programs like Excel, JMP or Tableau.  You will learn through examples of visualizations, statistics, and risk analysis approaches to better understand data and identify areas of risk or potential fraud.  This framework will provide insight into organization, cleansing/review, visualization and analysis of available data, while optimizing existing resources.

During the presentation, you will learn how to examine the core principles behind analytics approaches as they pertain to fraud analysis, demonstrate the basic principles of data organization and cleansing, apply basic analysis techniques to identify trends and anomalous data and incorporate data-backed solutions for resource optimization in the analysis process.
